2011 Awards Nominations

 2011 NSGC Awards Program

Each year NSGC members are encouraged to nominate themselves or fellow members for recognition in the categories listed below. To encourage and acknowledge member participation and volunteerism within NSGC, the Awards Workgroup will give no fewer than 6 awards annually. As the leading voice, authority and advocate for the genetic counseling profession, the National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC) is composed of numerous networks of committees, task forces, SIGs and individual members. Through the continuous efforts of these dedicated professionals, NSGC is able to grow and improve as an organization with each passing year. The NSGC Awards Program acknowledges the actions and behaviors of exemplary genetic counselors, as well as recognizing volunteers for their contributions. Find members of NSGC through the Find A Genetic Counselor search.  Genetic counselors work in university medical centers, community clinics, public health departments, diagnostic laboratories, and many other health, education, and related agencies. Board certification is granted through the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) which also accredits training programs.  A growing number of states now license genetic counselors.
