Our genetic counselor has positively impacted our practice financially, logistically, and, most importantly, clinically, by improving outcomes for our patients and empowering them to play a more active role in reducing their risk for breast cancer. - Lora D. Barke, D.O.
Having a genetic counselor as part of our practice has been invaluable. She helps our patients to understand their risk for breast cancer and to make an informed choice about their personalized options for screening and prevention. She not only accomplishes this with the patients she sees face-to-face, she also helps us set up processes system-wide to identify high-risk women from the large volume of patients who visit our centers for breast imaging. She also educates our staff, radiologists, and referring physicians about issues related to identifying and managing women at high-risk for breast cancer. - Lora D. Barke, D.O.
“Patients benefit from speaking to another person, skilled not only in the medical information given, but as another compassionate resource to repeat the information presented by physicians and nurses.”

“[Genetic counselors provide] accurate, up-to-date interpretation of available patient data, reliable assessment and planning. [There is] no way we could know everything that the genetic counselors know. And they have an analytical way of looking at numbers and data.” - Obstetrician/Gynecologist
