Short Course 2006

To be maximally effective, genetic counselors must begin to strengthen their knowledge of public health principles, policy and practice. This short course will utilize plenary sessions, panel discussions and small group activities to provide examples for using public health principles in the genetic service delivery system, introduce the relecance of genomics to public health, discuss policy development and explore ways in which genetic counselors can contribute to improving the health of populations.
