Call for Speakers for the 2010 AEC
NSGC 2010 Annual Education Conference
October 14-17, 2010
Hyatt Regency Dallas at Reunion
Dallas, Texas
NSGC is actively inviting members to submit presentation submissions for Pre-conference Symposia, Plenary Sessions and Educational Breakout Sessions!
Returning in 2010 - Pre-conference Symposia!
Pre-conference symposia will take place again on Thursday, October 14, the day before the main conference begins. We will offer 4-6 concurrent pre-conference symposia, each lasting 4-6 hours. The sessions will focus on high level, detailed information for a particular specialty practice area or professional development topic. We believe that these smaller, in depth, sessions will allow for more discussion and a more interactive experience. So…put on your creative thinking caps and send in your ideas!!
We are looking for informative and stimulating presentations by genetic counselors, physicians, researchers or other industry leaders that will help advance our knowledge in the profession of genetic counseling. See “Submission Guidelines” below.
Submit your proposal for consideration for the NSGC 29th Annual Education Conference by completing the online submission form today. Instructions on how to submit your proposal can be found by following the link below:
Submission Instructions
Don’t forget - the deadline for submissions is January 15, 2010. Individuals who submit proposals will receive email notification of the status of their submissions in mid February.
If you have any questions related to the submission process, please do not hesitate to contact the AEC Subcommittee’s Chair, Shannan DeLany Dixon or Vice-chair Beth Wood Denne.
Submission Guidelines
Presentation submissions need to contain a brief descriptive paragraph outlining the presentation as well as 3 learning objectives written to the continuing education standards, outlined on the electronic submission form. Presentations should be 60 to 240 minutes in length.
Note: a Plenary Session is typically 60 minutes, while an EBS is typically 120 minutes, although it may be presented by more than one speaker and encompass 2 or more integrally related topics. A Pre-Conference Symposia will be a minimum of 240 minutes.
All presentations must be educational in nature and not include any sales, product or marketing information. Speakers are encouraged to prepare and present original material. Members of the 2010 AEC Subcommittee will carefully review all submissions.
Additionally, if you are interested in submitting an EBS proposal for a counseling or theory based topic, please elaborate on the plans for the overall flow of the session and specify activities to be conducted during the session.
Important Note: If you are submitting the proposal, but do not plan to speak, list yourself as the “Submitter/Session Coordinator” and list who the speakers will be in the “additional speakers” portion of the submission. ALL speakers should be determined at the time of the submission. This is necessary information for the Subcommittee to have. The “Submitter/Session Coordinator” will be considered the main contact for the proposal.
