Genetics Day on the Hill
On Wednesday, September 27, five NSGC members: Cathy Wicklund, Wendy Uhlmann, Diane Baker, Brandi Blaisdell and Jill Fonda, along with John Richardson, NSGC government relations specialist, joined over one hundred advocates with the Genetic Alliance. The goal was to encourage members of Congress to co-sponsor GINA (HR 1227) and to work toward increased oversight of genetic testing. Participants visited over 80 congressional offices. The event was wonderfully organized by the hard working volunteers and staff at the Alliance and it was certainly an exciting day. Genetics Day on the Hill was a big success and the beginning of a new level of involvement for genetic counselors and advocates in the legislative process. We hope to have you join us at next year’s event!

Update: the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (H.R.1227) now has 242 cosponsors. Keep up the good work!
