35th Annual Education Conference Scholarship Opportunities and Leadership Award Nominations
AEC Scholarships Sponsored by Invitae
Invitae has announced that they will be providing scholarships to eight (8) Full or New Genetic Counselor Members of NSGC to attend the National Society of Genetic Counselors 2016 AEC September 28 - October 1. Scholarship recipients will receive complimentary full registration (including CEU fee) and a travel stipend.
As part of the online application, you will be asked to submit responses to two prompts regarding this year's AEC and any NSGC affiliations you may have. The Scholarship Subcommittee of the NSGC Membership Committee will review all applications and select the winners (Invitae will NOT be involved in selecting the winners).
- Applicants must currently be a Full or New Genetic Counselor NSGC member.
- Scholarships are intended for individuals whose institutions are not covering the cost of the AEC.
The deadline for all submissions was July 15, 2016 at 11:59pm CDT. All applicants till be notified of their status by August 1, 2016.
NSGC 2016 Leadership Awards
As the leading voice, authority and advocate for the genetic counseling profession, the NSGC is composed of numerous networks of committees, task forces, SIGs and individual members. Through the continuous efforts of these dedicated professionals, NSGC is able to grow and improve as an organization with each passing year. The annual NSGC Leadership Awards acknowledges the actions and behaviors of exemplary genetic counselors, as well as recognizes volunteers for their contributions. The call for nominations closed at 11:59PM CDT on Wednesday July 20, 2016. Winners notified by the end of August and will be presented at the 2016 AEC in Seattle, Washington.
Cultural Competency Student Scholarship Award
In an effort to increase cultural competency of the membership of the NSGC, the Membership Committee is providing two $500 scholarships to second year genetic counseling students planning to attend the 2016 NSGC AEC meeting in Seattle, Washington. All applicants must be enrolled in and in good standing at an accredited genetic counseling training program in the fall of 2016 and be members of the NSGC or planning to join in 2017. Any second year genetic counseling student interested in cultural competency issues may apply for this scholarship.
Applications closed on Friday, June 24, 2016, before midnight EDT. Winners will be chosen and presented during the Leadership Awards at the 2016 AEC in Seattle, Washington.
PROGRAM DIRECTORS must complete the Student Enrollment Verification form. A winner will be chosen by the end of July and the recipients will be notified after verification of enrollment has been established.
