September 13-16: NSGC 36th Annual Conference
Non-genetic counselor invited speakers (invited to speak in an Educational Breakout Session, Workshop, Plenary or Pre-Conference Symposium) are eligible for reimbursement/coverage of travel costs. Typically, this is for individuals such as physicians, surgeons, patient advocacy representatives or patient panels. Below you will find the items that are covered for non-genetic counselor speakers. To verify whether or not you or your speaker is eligible for reimbursement/coverage of travel costs, please email email@example.com.
- Flight (up to $500)
- Per Diem (up to $70 a day)
- Ground Transportation or transportation to/from the airport (up to $150)
- Hotel (1 night’s stay)

New in 2017! - All invited speakers (members and non-members invited to speak in an Educational Breakout Session, Workshop, Plenary or Pre-Conference Symposium) will receive complimentary, full-conference registration. The CEU fee for full members and non-members is included in this complimentary registration, however, it does not include add-ons such as a Pre-Conference Symposia or the Conference Recordings. Add-ons will be an additional fee for all attendees and speakers. Information regarding speaker registration has been emailed to all speakers. According to NSGC’s recently updated CEU Standards and Guidelines, presenters in educational sessions may no longer use branded slide decks. It is, therefore, required that all conference speakers, moderators, and panelists use the approved NSGC PowerPoint Template.
Please note this template includes a Conflict of Interest Disclosure slide. All speakers are required to complete this slide. If a speaker does not have any conflicts, please state, “no conflicts to disclose.” For complete information on NSGC’s COI policy, please review the CEU Standards and Guidelines.
All session handouts/slides are due to Erika Bruning at email@example.com by August 31, 2017*.
*For the August 31st deadline, it is okay to submit a draft version of your slides. If you update your slides at a later date, you can re-submit those to firstname.lastname@example.org and we will do our best to update these prior to the conference. However, please note that the later the slides are received, the likelihood that we will have an opportunity to get them loaded/updated as handouts on our website prior to your session presentation decreases.
Session Quiz Questions
As an added benefit to members, some conference presentations will be recorded and posted to an online web portal and will be eligible for continued CEU credits after the Annual Conference. As subject matter experts, we ask speakers to aid us in this effort by creating quiz questions that will be used during the online syndication of your presentation. These questions will help gauge how much the viewer has learned.
Please use this link to submit your quiz questions to the submission site. The first few pages of the survey share additional information about the creation of these quiz questions.
Quiz questions are due by August 31, 2017.
NSGC will provide access to the Poll Everywhere software for use during your session. More information will be released closer to the start of the Annual Conference regarding instructions on how to utilize this software.

Session Coordinators, kindly record your session’s moderator name and email address here by August 1, 2017. The Executive Office will use this email to send moderator packets to moderators.
Honoraria is provided to session speakers. The honorarium per session is listed below (this value is divided among all presenters in the session, with the division is at the discretion of the session organizer). Both genetic counselors and non-genetic counselors are eligible for this honorarium.
- Pre-Conference: $1,500
- General Plenary Session: $500 per hour of presentation
- 30-minute plenary = $250
- 60-minute plenary = $500
- Educational Breakout Session: $300 per hour of presentation
- 60-minute breakout: $300
- 90-minute breakout: $450
- Workshop: $600
