NSGC 36th Annual Conference
The NSGC Annual Conference showcases advancements across the breadth of the genetic counseling profession to provide education and build community. Attendees will gain knowledge of clinical and scientific best practices and insights into emerging research. The conference provides a unique opportunity to engage and network with colleagues and pursue professional development.
We have exciting changes in the works for 2017 and beyond! Here is a sampling of what you can expect:
Announcing the NSGC Annual Conference
No, we are not dropping "Education" from the Conference! Education will always be a critical component of our meeting. But, our attendees consistently remark that the NSGC conference, as THE annual gathering of genetic counselors, offers so much more than education - opportunities to build the genetic counseling community, network and engage with others in the profession and pursue professional development. Beginning in 2017, you'll notice that the name of the event is now the "NSGC Annual Conference."
Streamlined Call for Speakers Process
We've made changes to streamline our annual Call for Speakers and allow the proposal submitter to better illustrate what he/she hopes to accomplish in the session and how. The Program Committee will also work more closely with submitters to develop their ideas into robust programming. To help navigate the changes to the 2017 Call for Speakers, we've developed a variety of resources, available on our Call for Speakers Resource Page.
New Interactive Workshops
Everyone has a different learning style, and to allow our attendees to explore hot topics through different learning modalities, we're adding a new type of breakout session to our conference schedule, a 2-hour, interactive workshop. These workshops will employ skill-based, active learning, to encourage more interaction between session attendees and allow you to expand or enhance your network while you learn.
Greater Focus on Genetic Counseling Research Findings
NSGC recognizes the importance of promoting best practices and the value of our various roles in healthcare. In 2017, we will provide additional opportunities during plenary sessions to highlight research performed by genetic counselors. We also plan to offer greater numbers of specialty-focused sessions where experts in specific areas of practice can share their knowledge.
