Instructions for Conference Organizers

Please review the Continuing Education Unit (CEU) Standards & Guidelines for information on NSGC's criteria for Category 1 CEU Approval.

Are you organizing an educational activity for genetic counselors? Applying for Category 1 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) can increase your conference registration and add value to the activity!

NSGC requires that all Category 1 Applications are submitted at least 8 weeks prior to the conference date to ensure adequate review time. Any applications received later than 8 weeks but more than 4 weeks before the event will be assessed a rush fee (see below).

 4. Submit Post-Conference/Activity Materials

Within 60 days of the conclusion of your event (or quarterly if your event is an enduring online opportunity), please submit the following materials electronically to NSGC in order for the attendees to receive CEU credit:

  • Payment of $25.00 per individual claiming CEUs. It is recommended that conference organizers allow participants the option to pay the CEU fee at the time that they register for the activity.
  • A spreadsheet containing thefollowing information for each participant: First Name, Last Name, Email Address, CEUs Earned and Contact Hours Earned.
  • An electronic copy of the evaluation and assessment results from your program that include learners' scores, if applicable.
  • Electronic spreadsheets or scanned copies of the sign-in sheets or self-reporting forms used to track attendance at your program and/or sessions.

Please DO NOT send hard copies of these materials; the conference organizer is responsible for retaining this information for their records. Once NSGC has received the materials and fees listed above, we will email an official CEU certificate to each participant that details how many credits he or she has earned for that activity.
