Increasingly, healthcare regulation is focused on promoting transparency in financial relationships by healthcare providers and industry. This 1 hour webinar recording will provide information regarding existing regulation and provide context for applying this regulation to genetic counselors' practice. The recorded webinar will also provide members with guidance around disclosing financial relationships that may present real or perceived conflicts of interest.
After completing this 1.0 hour course, learners will be able to:
- Discern real and perceived conflict of interest established through workplace and personal ties.
- Identify personal and professional conflict of interest.
- Summarize direct or indirect anti-kickback and self- referral statutes as they relate to ordering genetic tests or providing pre- and post-test counseling.
The National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC) has been authorized to offer up to 0.10 CEUs or 1.00 Category 1 Contact Hour for this activity through 05/01/2020. The American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) will accept CEUs earned at this program for the purposes of genetic counselor certification and recertification. Individuals must be certified at the time of participation in the activity in order to count towards recertification.
