Update: H.R. 3235, "Access to Genetic Counselor Services Act"

Representative Steve Stivers (OH-15) was added as a co-sponsor to H.R. 3235, and we expect support to grow as more congressional offices learn about our important Medicare issue.

Please respond to the Action Alerts. We have generated over 3,700 emails to the Hill, and almost every congressional office has received at least one email. While this is great, only 1,265 genetic counselors have responded to the Action Alerts. Please take a few seconds to send an email if you have not yet done so. It only takes a few seconds, and it does make a difference as we meet with congressional staff as it is extremely important for them to hear from back home.

Thank you to those that have joined our “key contact network.” We will be activating individuals at various times throughout the year. Since these contacts go directly to healthcare staff, we need to ensure we bring attention to the legislation in a manner that is most productive. While several of our members have been activated, please stay tuned if you volunteered but have not been asked to connect with hill staff.

The House of Representatives will be in recess from July 29 to September 6. This is a good time to meet with your member of Congress. If you’d like to meet with your Representative, please contact advocacy@nsgc.org. We will work with you to schedule a meeting and provide materials to help ensure success in gaining support for H.R. 3235.
