The mission of the Jane Engelberg Memorial Fellowship (JEMF) is to provide support for research by genetic counselors, to promote individual professional development and to drive innovation in the field of genetic counseling. Student Outreach Events in New Orleans
Ahead of the NSGC 43rd Annual Conference, two volunteers from the J.E.D.I. Stewardship Committee Student Outreach Workgroup, Sonia Nessari and Malika Sud, visited with students at two local schools in New Orleans. Sonia and Malika met with 80 students at Warren Easton Charter High School and The University of New Orleans to provide an overview of genetic counseling, describe the education pathway to becoming a genetic counselor, and answer students’ questions about working in the profession.
