The NSGC 2026 Membership Cycle is Officially Open!
One-year memberships purchased from October 1, 2025 onwards will be active once paid through December 31, 2026.
Two-year memberships purchased from October 1, 2025 onwards will be active once paid through December 31, 2027.
Membership Types
NSGC memberships are based on the calendar year/NSGC’s fiscal year, January 1 – December 31. All new memberships (except students and international students) will incur a one-time only, non-refundable application fee of US $15.
NSGC now offers two-year membership purchase options for Full, Associate, International Genetic Counselor and Emeritus memberships.
Full Member – One-Year - $315, Two-Year - $630
Full membership shall be extended to any person who: (i) holds a graduate degree from an accredited genetic counseling training program, or (ii) prior to May 1, 2014 had a Master’s or Ph.D. degree in a related field such as nursing, social work or public health and has had a broad range of clinical genetics training and whose primary responsibility for at least three years prior to the date of such person’s application was genetic counseling, or (iii) is certified in genetic counseling by the American Board of Medical Genetics and/or the American Board of Genetic Counseling. Full Members receive all member benefits, have voting rights, can hold office and serve on committees.
Associate Member – One-Year - $272, Two-Year - $544
Healthcare professionals with an interest or focus in genetics and genomics. Please note that the NSGC Executive office will need to approve your membership prior to collecting your first dues. If you have questions on becoming an Associate Member, please contact the NSGC Executive office at nsgc@nsgc.org. Associate Members have all privileges of full members except they may not vote, or serve on the Board of Directors, or as Chair of a committee.
New Genetic Counselor Member – One-Year - $220
Special membership for those who graduated from an accredited genetic counseling program within the last 2 years. New Genetic Counselor Members receive all the same member benefits as Full Members but are eligible for a discounted membership fee for up to 2 years, as a newly graduated genetic counselor.
Student Member – One-Year - $50
Special membership for students currently enrolled in an ACGC accredited genetic counseling training program. Student Members receive all the same privileges as Associate Members, with the exception that Students may not vote for the NSGC Board of Directors Slate or access the Journal of Genetic Counseling.

International Memberships
As of Oct. 1 2025, NSGC is pleased to announce two new membership categories for genetic counselors and students residing outside of the United States and Canada – International Genetic Counselor and International Genetic Counselor Student memberships. Learn more about pricing here
International Genetic Counselor Members
Special membership for individuals who hold an MD degree or a master’s or Ph.D. degree in genetics, genetic counseling, nursing, social work or public health from a non-ACGC accredited training program who currently resides outside of the United States and Canada. Please note that the NSGC Executive office will need to approve your membership prior to collecting your first dues. International Genetic Counselor Student Members
Special membership for individuals currently enrolled in a genetic counselling program that is not accredited by ACGC and resides outside of the United States and Canada. Emeritus Member – One-Year - $140, Two-Year - $280
Special membership for retired genetic counselors in good standing of NSGC for a minimum of 15 years. After your membership request and dues have been received and approved, you will be awarded all the benefits of your membership category. Please note that membership dues payments are non-refundable.

*Dues payments to NSGC, classified by the IRS as a 501(c)(6) not-for-profit organization, are not deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes. However, they may be deductible under other provisions of the Internal Revenue Code subject to restrictions imposed as a result of lobbying activities. NSGC estimates that the nondeductible portion of your 2025 dues is 33%. The nondeductible amount (33%) is calculated by dividing total NSGC lobbying expenditures by total dues income (excluding all other income).
