Call for Authors: Cell-free DNA Prenatal Screening
The NSGC Practice Guidelines Committee (PGC) seeks author applications for a new NSGC systematic evidence review (SER) and practice guideline (PG) on the topic of emerging prenatal applications of cell-free DNA prenatal screening. The PG's primary focus will be an assessment of the current evidence base for pre- and post- test genetic counseling on cell-free DNA prenatal screening beyond the common aneuploidies (e.g. microdeletions, rare autosomal aneuploidies, single gene disorders, and recommendations for best practices).
NSGC PGs are statements that include recommendations intended to optimize patient care. They are informed by a systematic review of evidence (SER) and an assessment of the benefits and harms of alternative care options. Each document takes about 1.5 years to complete. The PGC oversees the development of NSGC's SERs and PGs. For more information about NSGC SERs and PGs, please visit NSGC's PGC Webpage.
Interested NSGC members should complete PGC's Conflict of Interest Disclosure Form and send their CVs and statements of interest (Word or PDF) to Andrew Buckley, PGC Staff Liaison by September 9. In the statement of interest, please indicate; 1) if you have a preference in serving as an author on the SER or PG and 2) if you would like to be considered as a co-lead author. (Please note, applicants determined to have a direct conflict of interest will not be considered for lead authorship.)
Contact Andrew Buckley with any questions.
NSGC Practice Guideline Process
The NSGC Practice Guidelines Committee works with authors to produce Evidence-Based Clinical Practice Guidelines through an established guideline process. The Guideline Development Manual outlines NSGC's criteria and includes an Appendix with all relevant forms, documents, and background for authors and individuals who submit topic proposals. The Committee also has established criteria for Practice Resource documents, which focus on topics that do not have an evidence-base to meet NSGC's Practice Guideline criteria.
